<p class="bodytext">ArtCAM Pro 2008 offers all the original features of ArtCAM Pro 9.1 and the following new features:</p><ul class="listbullet"><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66170" title="New ArtCAM Workflow" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/66059.htm" target="_self">New ArtCAM Workflow</a></strong>. In previous versions of ArtCAM Pro, you could only work with models. You can now work with projects, in which you can store multiple models, assemblies and replica meshes. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66171" title="Enhanced Project Tree" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/63354.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Project Tree</a></strong>. Following the introduction of projects, the Project Tree on the <strong class="specialbold">Project</strong> tab has changed. Each of the new items in the Project Tree has its own associated context-menu. Almost all of the items familiar to the Project Tree in previous versions of ArtCAM Pro either have an entirely new context-menu or additional options. It is now far easier to work directly from the Project Tree. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66172" title="Revised File Menu Options" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64500.htm" target="_self">Revised File Menu Options</a></strong>. In previous versions of ArtCAM Pro, the <strong class="specialbold">Vectors From Bitmap</strong> dialog box allowed you to create vector artwork around the outline of all areas of an image on a bitmap layer drawn in the current Primary Colour, together with those colours from the Colour Palette linked to the Primary Colour. All of the settings associated with the <strong class="specialbold">Vectors From Bitmap</strong> dialog box have now been consolidated onto a single page of settings displayed in the <strong class="specialbold">Assistant</strong> window. Moreover, you can now calculate a vector centreline from all areas of the bitmap layer in the current Primary Colour, together with those colours that are linked to the Primary Colour. This is particularly useful for calculating a centreline from bitmap images of text. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68212" title="Modified Primary and Secondary Colours" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/67145.htm" target="_self">Modified Primary and Secondary Colours</a></strong>. In previous versions of ArtCAM Pro, the default Primary Colour in the Colour Palette is white and the default Secondary Colour is black. All of the settings previously found in each of the steps associated with the <strong class="specialbold">Extrude</strong>, <strong class="specialbold">Spin</strong> and <strong class="specialbold">Turn Wizard</strong>s have each been consolidated onto a single page of settings displayed in the <strong class="specialbold">Assistant</strong> window. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66179" title="Enhanced Shape Editor" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/63845.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Shape Editor</a></strong>. In previous versions of ArtCAM Pro, you could only create three-dimensional shapes using the <strong class="specialbold">Shape Editor</strong> tool and the bitmap image shown in the <strong class="specialbold">2D View</strong> window. You can now project an image hosted on a bitmap layer onto the composite relief shown in the <strong class="specialbold">3D View </strong>window and then use the <strong class="specialbold">Shape Editor</strong> tool to create three-dimensional shapes on a selected relief layer directly from there. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66176" title="New Magic Wand Tool" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64499.htm" target="_self">New Magic Wand Tool</a></strong>. You can now create vector boundaries around adjacent consistently coloured areas of a bitmap layer or contiguous areas of the composite relief at a consistent height. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68210" title="New Vector Boundary Tool" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64115.htm" target="_self">New Vector Boundary Tool</a></strong>. You can now create vector boundaries from the composite relief or a selected relief layer. The resulting vector artwork can be used as an efficient machining boundary in several toolpaths, a boundary for envelope distortion, smoothing, applying texture or scaling, and for cleaning-up scanned data. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66180" title="Enhanced Interactive Sculpting" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64558.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Interactive Sculpting</a></strong>. The new <strong class="specialbold">Modelling Default</strong> and <strong class="specialbold">Simulation Default</strong> shading options replace the <strong class="specialbold">Default</strong> option available in previous versions of ArtCAM Pro. The settings associated with the <strong class="specialbold">Default</strong> option available in previous versions of ArtCAM Pro are now named <strong class="specialbold">Old Default</strong>. You can store custom settings as the <strong class="specialbold">Modelling Default</strong> and the <strong class="specialbold">Simulation Default </strong>so that these are used when viewing the composite relief and simulated toolpaths in the <strong class="specialbold">3D View</strong> window. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66183" title="New Relief Layer Thumbnails" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/63353.htm" target="_self">New Relief Layer Thumbnails</a></strong>. In previous versions of ArtCAM Pro, it was not possible to determine the content on a specific relief layer unless it was actually visible in the <strong class="specialbold">3D View</strong> window. Each relief layer now has its own thumbnail image, allowing you to check its content irrespective of whether it is currently visible in the <strong class="specialbold">3D View</strong> window or not. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66177" title="New Slice Relief Tool" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/63846.htm" target="_self">New Slice Relief Tool</a></strong>. The new <strong class="specialbold">Slice Relief</strong> tool allows you to divide the composite relief or the content on a single relief layer into slices. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66184" title="Enhanced Machine Relief Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64454.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Machine Relief Toolpath</a></strong>. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68213" title="Enhanced Feature Machining Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/66356.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Feature Machining Toolpath</a></strong>. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68216" title="Enhanced Z Level Roughing Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/68214.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Z Level Roughing Toolpath</a></strong>. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68217" title="Enhanced Smart Engraving Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/68215.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Smart Engraving Toolpath</a></strong>. When creating a Smart Engraving toolpath you can now define the upper bound of an interior corner for the purpose of sharpening the corners at the top of the selected vector artwork and inserting tails. Furthermore, the overall calculation time for the toolpath is noticeably faster and its resulting moves are far cleaner. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68367" title="New Drill Bank Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/68270.htm" target="_self">New Drill Bank Toolpath</a></strong>. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h68368" title="Enhanced Drilling Toolpath" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/68272.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Drilling Toolpath</a></strong>. You can now control which type of bridges, or tabs, are created by default in ArtCAM Pro. Three-dimensional bridges possess a triangular cross-section and do not have any associated retract or plunge moves. </li><li class="listbullet"><strong class="specialbold"><a class="jumptemplate" id="h66175" title="Enhanced Twiddle Tool" href="mk:@MSITStore:D:\Program%20Files\ArtCAM%202008\Exec\Language\en\WhatsNew.chm::/64691.htm" target="_self">Enhanced Twiddle Tool</a></strong>. Continuing advances in 3D graphics hardware are now utilised by ArtCAM Pro to provide appreciably faster manipulation of the content shown in the <strong class="specialbold">3D View</strong> window.</li></ul><p class="bodytext">Only new features available in ArtCAM Pro are documented here.</p><script>[script]null[/script]</script> |
